Recent work:
- The Sustainable Seafood Coalition. The SSC is a UK partnership of seafood businesses with a vision that all fish and seafood sold in the UK should be from sustainable sources. I ran a workshop with the group about their global work on the lessons of collaboration and working with voluntary codes.
- The Sustainable Trade Initiative is a Dutch publicly funded organisation that organises change in commodity supply chains. They provide the secretariat for the Better Cotton Fast Track Program. I am facilitating the Program’s governance process and supporting strategic planning and policy making.
- The Innovation Centre for US Dairy provides a forum for the dairy industry to work pre-competitively to address barriers to and opportunities for innovation and sales growth. In May 2011 I interviewed 30 business leaders from North America and Europe to support the development of a White Paper on measuring dairy sustainability.
- I worked with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation developing retailer outreach and support for projects. Working with their ‘Global Development Program’ I built relationships at senior level to build understanding of work on fruit, cocoa, cotton and cashew.
- Stratos is a sustainability consultancy based in Ottawa, Canada. They are facilitating a national initiative on sustainable agriculture that includes retailers, brand manufacturers and farming organisations. I advised them on the global context of their work.
- Developing a global communication rooted in the science of the health and environmental benefits of pulses for Pulse Canada, the federation of Canadian Trade Associations.
- Outreach Director for the Global Social Compliance Programme. GSCP is a business-driven programme for companies who want to harmonise their existing efforts in order to deliver a shared, consistent and global approach for the continuous improvement of working conditions in global supply chains.
- I developed and wrote the script for “The Buying Game” for Traidcraft and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
- I participated in the Institute of Biology Food Policy Workshop as an independent expert. This was organised by the University of Reading and the Scottish Crop Research Institute
- Chairman of the first Procurement for Development Forum, with the UK Government and Chatham House. (Food industry directors from retailing and manufacturing working together to understand reputational issues concerning food from Africa)
- Advisor and facilitator to Regoverning Markets programme, including facilitation of a four day international research workshop in Mexico
- Delivering an impact review for an NGO working to raise awareness amongst the buying profession on responsible purchasing.
- Development of a marketing strategy for an international collaboration of NGO’s working to develop new business models
- Representing clients from Europe and the USA at Conferences
